Runs a proper consultation before a service (hair, beauty, fitness, childcare, care work): listens, asks about history and contraindications, manages expectations and agrees the outcome.
Technical skill & service standards
Delivers the core technical service to a consistent professional standard (cutting, colour, nails, massage, training programmes, personal care routines) and keeps skills current.
Hygiene, safety & compliance
Follows hygiene, sanitation, infection control and safety rules for their setting (sterilisation, patch tests, manual handling, child safety, medication protocols) and does not cut corners when busy.
Client relationships, rebooking & retail
Builds a loyal client base through consistent service, remembers preferences, rebooks clients at the end of each visit and recommends products or add-ons genuinely.
Handling complaints & sensitive situations
Handles unhappy clients, dissatisfaction with results, personal or emotional situations and boundaries calmly and professionally, and recovers the relationship where possible.
Reliability, punctuality & time management
Arrives on time, runs to schedule so clients are not kept waiting, manages a full column or shift efficiently and is dependable for weekend and evening work.
Empathy, dignity & professional boundaries
Treats clients, patients or children with dignity, adapts to their needs and moods, maintains professional boundaries and confidentiality, and escalates concerns about wellbeing appropriately.
