Manages the store's sales, margin, wage cost, shrinkage and expenses against budget, reads reports to act, and keeps the store compliant with labour, safety and trading regulations.
Customer engagement & needs discovery
Approaches customers naturally, asks questions to understand what they need and why, and matches products to that need rather than pushing what is on promotion.

Knows the range, features, prices and promotions; keeps displays and stock presentation to standard; explains product differences in a way that helps the customer decide.
Handling complaints, returns & difficult customers
Stays calm and fair with angry customers, returns and disputes: applies policy, knows the Consumer Protection Act basics, finds a solution and knows when to involve a manager.
