Vehicle care & maintenance management2/5
Customer service & cargo handling3/5
Fleet compliance & cost management4/5
  • The situation in one sentence: where, what was short, and by how much.
  • The decision that was yours rather than the team’s, and what you chose not to do.
  • One number or one consequence that shows it worked.

Every competency is scored out of five with a line you actually said as evidence, and the weakest answers are rewritten as structure and specifics, never a script.

What Transport & Fleet interviewers keep scoring

Safe & compliant driving operations

Operates or manages vehicles safely and legally: licences and PrDPs, pre-trip inspections, load securing, hours and fatigue, speed and behaviour standards, and honest incident reporting.

Route, schedule & delivery management

Plans and executes routes and schedules efficiently: delivery windows, traffic and load shedding impacts, vehicle utilisation, proof of delivery and communication when delays occur.

Vehicle care & maintenance management

Keeps vehicles roadworthy and available: defect reporting, service schedules, tyre and fuel management, breakdown response, roadworthy certificates and cost control on repairs.

Customer service & cargo handling

Represents the company at the customer's door: handles goods carefully, manages documentation and returns, resolves disputes at delivery calmly, and protects cash and high-value cargo.

Fleet compliance & cost management

Manages the fleet's legal and cost position: licensing, roadworthiness, permits and cross-border requirements, RTMS or similar standards, insurance and claims, fuel and cost per kilometre.

Driver management & leadership

Manages drivers fairly and firmly: recruitment and licence verification, induction, telematics-based coaching, fatigue and hours, discipline within labour law, and morale on long-haul or shift work.

Security & risk awareness

Reduces hijacking, theft and fraud risk: route risk assessment, tracking and panic procedures, cash and high-value protocols, dealing with roadside stops and corrupt demands, and honest reporting of incidents.
